The Village of Spencer's new Shooting range is now open for public use! You do not need to be a resident of the Village to use the range, nor are they any fees. There are a few items to be finished yet, but we just couldn't wait any longer. The sign listing the Range Rules will be installed shortly. They are posted here for your reference. The ordinance enforcing the rules will be adopted at Monday night's board meeting, but they will be enforced starting now.
This range is a part of the Village of Spencer's Parks and Recreation department. All Parks and Recreation rules and ordinances apply unless a specific Range Rule takes precedence. Hours of operation are a good example. Trash containers and brass containers will be added shortly. Until then, please pick up after yourself and help keep this range looking neat and clean.
We will be staging a porta-potty for use on site starting in the spring, but are unsure if one will be placed for this fall. It is not our intention to plow snow all winter on the site, though it is still open for use by people who can get in and out on their own. Drive safe, the ditches are steep! The range and parking lot are tight to maneuver, but we were limited on available space due to DNR wetland restrictions.
Enjoy the new range and we'll look forward to years of beneficial use from this site for everyone. Also, let us know if you are interested in donating time to help maintain the range. We will be looking for groundskeepers and people to help with general maintenance.
